On the occasion of 15th National Sanitation Week
various organization like Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Ex-Army officers club,
community development organizations, NGO’s and various other organizations join
together with AYC to clean the Buldi River. Masks and hook used in that
sanitation program was sponsored by Friends for peace building and development
(FRI-PAD) and Gloves were sponsored by District Health office (DHO).
Buldi river which is flowing from our region is being polluted day
by day and it’s the most important issue that we have to deal with: because no
one is caring about this issue. The quality of the river and its surroundings
has degraded substantially over the last two decades. More particularly, water
quality near the place like Ghansikuwa, Taalghare, Galbubeshi, Maalebagar,
Bagbajar, Amarapuri and Bhadgaun where people carry out washing and bathing and
where untreated wastages are drained has deteriorated. The degraded state of
the river and its tributaries is attributable to rapid changes in lifestyle and
drastic increases in population. Which
has dramatically increased water use through the installation of flush toilets,
washing machines and solar water heaters. All three technologies contribute to
individual comfort, it is true, but they also increase the volume of non
consumptive and sanitary water used within a household. Almost all of this water is converted to grey
and black waters. AYC is acting seriously about this issue; we are planning to
work with different NGO’s, INGO’s and Government Organization to save it from
more pollution. If we care we can save it but if we don’t then in some days
it’d be like Bagmati and Bishnumati so
please let’s think and act seriously.
